Submitting an article
* Please note – Submissions for WQ Magazine and WQ Online are currently closed, and will reopen in early January 2017.
WQ Magazine and WQ Online (writingqueensland.com.au) feature content commissioned by Queensland Writers Centre as well as articles pitched to the masthead. QWC welcomes pitches and submissions from QWC members and other interested parties. Articles should appeal to writers at different stages of their careers, ranging from those who are just starting out through to seasoned professionals.
Pitches or submissions should be sent to Sharon at firstname.lastname@example.org, with an author bio. Pitches should also include a recent sample of your work or a link to a recent sample of your work.
In your pitch email please include: a short overview of your idea, the angle you will take, main points you will cover and any necessary links that illustrate your idea.
Please let us know when you will be able to submit your article draft and the approximate word count of your article, keeping in mind most WQ articles run from 600 – 1000 words.
Our editorial team will endeavour to answer all pitch inquiries within three weeks.
WQ pays contributing writers a rate of 15c per word for articles, to a maximum of 1,000 words, unless otherwise negotiated. (Please note – interviews conducted by QWC that promote an author or their work do not attract payment.)
